Plugin Privacy Policy

This policy covers our audio plugins. Our store privacy policy covers our website and your purchases. Fine Classics Plugins is the data controller for the information described here; our contact details are at the end.
Licensing
To issue your licence and bind it to your machine, activation sends us your email address, a device identifier derived from your computer's hardware, and which product you are activating. Signing in uses a one-time link sent to your email address — we never ask for or store a password.
While an activated plugin is running it checks in with our licence server about every ten minutes, sending the product name, the same device identifier, and the plugin version. This confirms your licence is still valid and is how we tell you about updates. Both are necessary to deliver the licence you bought, so they are part of our contract with you and are not optional.
Usage statistics (optional, opt-in)
On its own, a check-in carries nothing that ties it to the one before it, so the check-ins tell us that a plugin is licensed and running, but not how long a session lasted or how often the plugin is used.
If you tick "Help improve [product]" on the activation card, each check-in additionally carries a random session identifier. Ticking it sends no audio, no projects, no files to us. The plugin stores the identifier on your computer for ten minutes after it last ran, so a quick close-and-reopen counts as the same session.
We use these session records to see which products and versions are in use, and for how long, which is what tells us where to spend our development time. We do not use them for advertising, and we do not sell or share them.
This is optional and rests on your consent. Nothing is collected unless you tick the box: the box is unticked when you first see it, and your licence, your trial and every feature of the plugin work exactly the same whether you tick it or not. You are asked once, on the activation card, and never again after you answer. You can withdraw consent at any time by unticking "Send Session ID (Opt-In)" in the settings menu — one click, the same place you can turn it on — which stops the identifier being sent and erases the copy stored on your computer. The licence check-in itself continues, as described above.
We never collect your audio, your projects, or your files. The plugins contain no advertising or third-party tracking.
Who else handles it, and where
Our licence and usage-statistics service runs on Google's Firebase platform, which stores and processes this information on our behalf. It is held on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism. We disclose this information to no one else, except where the law requires it or where we need it to defend a legal claim.
To work offline, the plugins keep a small settings file on your computer holding your licence, a sign-in token, your account email, the device identifier, and your answer to the usage-statistics question. Removing your licence through the settings menu clears the licence, token, email and any stored session identifier; your usage-statistics answer stays, so you are not asked again.
How long we keep it
Licence records: while your licence is active, and up to 24 months after your last licence check, so you can reinstall or move machines. Usage session records: up to 24 months. We keep information longer only where the law requires it or a dispute is unresolved.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal information, to correct or delete it, to receive a copy in portable form, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email us to exercise any of these; we may need to verify your identity first, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
You can complain to us using the details below, and you also have the right to complain to a data protection authority — in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; in the EEA or UK, your local supervisory authority.
Other
Our plugins are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority where they live. All communication with our servers is encrypted in transit, though no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. We may update this policy, and will post any revision here with a new "Last updated" date.
